College Counseling and Student Development GA
General Responsibilities and Expectations:
The Graduate Assistant position, under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and Program Director for the College Counseling and Student Development (CCSD) graduate program is a 10-month (15 – 20 hours per week) position. The Graduate Assistant is considered a para-professional staff member who works with special projects and programs in the department including marketing the CCSD program to prospective students. The selected person will be a vital member of the office and be committed to their own development as an individual and professional. The Graduate Assistant will work with incoming students, the cohorts, faculty members, and guest professionals while coordinating and implementing projects and programs pertaining to the MS in CCSD.
Specific Duties:
Build relationships with faculty, staff, and students participating in the CCSD program
Represent the program and assist in marketing the program both on and off campus as directed
Assist Program Coordinator

Specific Duties:

- Liaison between cohorts and department
- Plan and coordinate events:
- Cohort Mixers (Sept, Oct, Nov, Feb, Apr)
- Cohort Mixers (Sept, Oct, Nov, Feb, Apr)
Represent the program and assist in marketing the program both on and off campus as directed
- Coordinate the details for CCSD involvement in various graduate and career fairs, NASPA (Regional & National) and ACPA graduate fair booths
- Meet with potential master’s degree candidates (we will talk through admissions meetings)
- Respond to prospective student inquiries
- Create/Maintain databases for tracking prospective students
Assist Program Coordinator
- Assist with administrative procedures of the office
- Assist with CCSD Newsletter due in early Fall
- Assist in planning and coordinating events for CCSD program

Doctoral Programs in Higher Education GA
General Responsibilities and Expectations:
The G.A. position directly supports the Doctoral Programs in Higher Education at APU, including the Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership and the Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education degree programs. We are a forward thinking and engaged academic hub for over 150 doctoral students who are senior leaders at institutions across California and the nation. Your responsibilities as a Graduate Assistant includes internal and external communication, event coordination, social media marketing, maintenance of all databases and websites, tracking student progress through the doctoral program, scheduling and programming logistics, and providing support to faculty and staff in Doctoral Higher Education in scheduling travel, preparing for conferences, and maintaining budgets. You will gain a broadly applicable skill set and work closely with faculty and staff in the College Counseling and Student Development program.

- Utilizing an online email platform to create newsletters and other pertinent communication
- Produce newsletters for the PhD and EdD program regularly
- Creating social media content twice weekly for doctoral Twitter and Facebook accounts
- Processing expense reimbursements and entering data into the monthly transactions document
- Tracking forms, budget, passport copies for the international travel for both the EdD and PhD students
- Leading the logistics of Ed.D. weekend classes, including monthly Saturday class
- Assisting with Ph.D. Intensives, Hooding Ceremony, and Writing Workshops
- Assist with EdD and PhD Dissertation Presentations, Hooding Ceremonies, Workshops, and July Critical Issues Seminar
- Providing assistance for special research and benchmarking projects as instructed by supervisor
- Tracking and following up with PhD and EdD inquiries on program
